Meet the Team
Our Staff
Liz Stannard
Service ManagerLiz joined Home-Start Winchester in 2014 as a part-time Scheme Co-ordinator and has been at the heart of the team ever since.
Originally trained as a physiotherapist, Liz is committed to the work we do, but particularly children with additional needs and helping families find the support that works best for them.
Liz’s early work with Home-Start was invaluable and helped expand the number of families the charity could support each year. In April 2020, she became our Service Manager.
Liz lives locally with her husband and has three grown-up children. She brings experience, understanding and a strong commitment to everything we do.
Jane Read
Senior Scheme Co-ordinator and Community Outreach ManagerJane joined the Home-Start team in April 2020, bringing with her many years of experience supporting children and families.
She began her career as a Nursery Nurse and worked as a live-in nanny before becoming a teaching assistant in a special school. Around 30 years ago she moved to Winchester to train as a teacher and went on to teach for many years in local primary schools.
Jane later developed the role of a wellbeing practitioner, supporting pupils in both primary and secondary schools.
As a parent of two daughters herself, Jane understands the realities of family life and the importance of support at the right time. She brings practical experience and strong local knowledge to her dual role, helping families feel supported and reaching out to the wider business communities to connect.
Liz Brown
Family Group LeaderLiz has been part of Home-Start Winchester since 2007, when she joined as a part-time Family Group Leader.
She trained as an infant teacher in Winchester and spent several years teaching in Basingstoke before moving into community work supporting families and young children.
Alongside her work with Home-Start, Liz has run a church toddler group and served as a parent governor.
Liz lives locally and is mum to an adult son. She brings warmth, experience, innovation and a welcoming presence to the groups she leads.
Charlotte Howard
Family Group Co-ordinatorCharlotte joined Home-Start in November 2021 after first training as a volunteer.
A trained Montessori teacher, she has worked with children in a variety of settings, including managing a school in Thailand and running a Montessori school in central London.
She now brings that experience, dedication and enthusiasm to her role supporting families through Home-Start’s family groups and activities.
Charlotte lives on the outskirts of Winchester with her husband and their four children and enjoys being an active part of the community she supports.
Bonnie Stagg
Admin Assistant and Family Group LeaderBonnie joined Home-Start in September 2022 as a Family Group Leader and quickly became a valued part of the team.
Her connection with the charity began earlier, when a Home-Start volunteer supported her family after the birth of her twins – an experience that inspired her to give back to other families.
Bonnie has previously worked as a Teaching Assistant and run toddler groups in the community.
Now mum to five children, she understands the realities of a busy family life. In January 2025, Bonnie expanded her role, taking on additional responsibilities as Admin Assistant, so that now everyone who comes through our office door is made to feel as welcome as she makes our families feel.
Anna Chilton
Scheme and Community Outreach CoordinatorAnna has been part of the Home-Start family since 2016.
She first volunteered with our colleagues in Camden before bringing her energy and commitment to Winchester.
Having seen the difference Home-Start can make to families going through difficult times, Anna joined the team in January 2026 as our Scheme and Community Outreach Coordinator.
Anna’s background includes events and bookkeeping, and she spent ten years living in France.
She brings calm organisation, practical thinking and a steady presence to her role – whether she is supporting the scheme day to day or helping to build the relationships that keep our work going.
Anna lives just outside Winchester with her husband and three children.
She knows this community well and cares deeply about the families we support.
