Our Funding
Where does our funding come from?
Home-Start Winchester & Districts is funded through a mixture of fundraising activities, individual donations (both regular giving and one-off gifts), charitable trusts and foundations, commissioning and grants. A small percentage of our income comes from Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council.
With increasing pressure on local authority budgets, this funding cannot be relied upon long term. At the same time, demand for our support continues to grow.
Our challenge – and opportunity – is to build a broader base of support from individuals, community groups and local businesses so we can maintain our current services and reach more families who need us.
How you can help
Strong families create stronger communities – and everyone can play a part.
We rely on the generosity of people and organisations who believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life.
You can support us in a way that works for you:
- Make a one-off donation
- Set up a regular monthly gift or standing order
- Become a corporate sponsor or charity partner
- Support us through a payroll giving scheme
- Organise a fundraising event with friends, colleagues or your community
If you are a UK taxpayer, completing a Gift Aid declaration means we can reclaim 25p for every £1 you donate – at no extra cost to you. So a £10 donation becomes £12.50. It all adds up and makes a real difference to local families.
Every contribution – large or small – helps us provide practical and emotional support to parents facing challenging times
Become a Friend
Our Friends of Home-Start scheme is the gold standard of fundraising. It is tax and time efficient for the donor and, in these turbulent financial times, it gives us the financial security and confidence to plan ahead.
£50 per month will enable a fully trained volunteer to visit a family for 6 months.
£30 per month will allow us to run a weekly family support group.
£10 per month would go towards training a volunteer.
£3 per month will allow us to train a previous Home-Start parent to become a peer volunteer.

Donate Now
All donations – large and small – help fund our vital work with vulnerable families across Winchester and the surrounding district. The earliest years shape a child’s development, confidence and life chances. By stepping in early, we help parents cope, strengthen relationships at home, and give children the best possible start.
Your gift helps make sure those early years count – so that no child’s future is limited by circumstances. Donate today to help a family right now.
Partner with us
We’re proud to work with local companies and individuals who want to invest in frontline family support and strengthen the work we do. Whether through a Charity of the Year partnership, corporate sponsorship, payroll giving, in-kind support (e.g. professional expertise, printing, venues, equipment supply etc) or employee fundraising, we can create a partnership that works for your business and delivers real impact for families.
Organise a Corporate Event
From team challenges and sponsored activities to client evenings or workplace fundraising, we’d love to be your charity partner. We can provide materials, stories of impact and support to help your event succeed.
If your business would like to support local parents and children when they need it most, we’d love to talk.
